Coaching staff accepts the "Ice Bucket Challenge" to raise awareness for ALS

August 18, 2014 — 8:42pm CDT
Today, the West Branch Football coaching staff was challenged by Zach Zousel of the Mt. Vernon Mustangs to the Ice Bucket Challenge. The entire coaching staff accepted the challenge and let players dump buckets of freezing-cold ice water over their heads. As it is tradition, the West Branch coaching staff nominated others to accept the challenge. The coaching staff nominated West Branch Schools Superintendent Mr. Hatfield, West Branch High School Principal Mr. Bucknell, and West Branch High School Activities Director Jeff Wrede. The Ice Bucket Challenge has been a recent internet sensation to help raise awareness for A.L.S. (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) [a.k.a. Lou Gehrig's Disease]. In addition to accepting the challenge, the football program will donate $100 to the A.L.S. Association.
