The Iowa High School Athletic Association announced the district football assignments for the 2014-15 football seasons. West Branch will be playing in Class 1A, District 5. Other teams in the district include: Alburnett, Bellevue, Durant, North Cedar, Wapello, and Wilton. To view other Class and District assignments, visit the IHSAA's website. "I think it was very good of the state to move people around," head coach Butch Pedersen said. "This is going to be a challenging district for us. Every team is going to be very competitive." All non-district games will be assigned in two weeks. The Bears will look to improve upon a 6-4 record. Lucas Lamont returns at signal caller after passing for over 1500 yards in his first season as a starter. West Branch will also return all (5) starting Offensive Linemen (Jon St John, Jack Miller, Matt McIlrath, Drew Finnegan, and Ryan Grosvenor), and its 2nd, 3rd, and 4th leading receivers (Mason Hays, Aaron Barnes, and Luke Lenoch). All totaled, the Bears will have 9 returning starters on the offense and 7 on the defensive side.
