Gould and Donovan named All State

The Iowa Newspaper Association has named Michael Gould to its 1st team defensive unit as a linebacker. His teammate and fellow Bear captain Tyler Donovan was named to the 2nd team offensive unit by the INA and by the Iowa Sports Spotlight as a wide receiver. Gould led the Bear defense with 86 tackles, including 18 TFL (tackles for loss) and 2 sacks. The senior was named 1st team all-district 6 Class 1A as a LB also. Donovan finished the season with 33 receptions and 642 yards. Six of the receptions went for touchdowns. His season was highlighted by a 10 reception, 155 yard, 3 TD game in the Bears' 47-46 thrilling double OT victory against Sigourney-Keota at home. West Branch finished the season 6-4, losing its opening round playoff game against Maquoketa Valley (Delhi) 38-21. This was the 29th winning season out of 31 for head coach Butch Pedersen. Congratulations to these fine young men on their accomplishments.
