The West Branch Football program will continue its annual tradition of playing in a preseason scrimmage as one final tune-up before the regular season begins. In recent memory, the Bears have scrimmaged themselves and, more recently, the Mount Vernon Mustangs, who are coached by Lance Pedersen, son of West Branch head coach Butch Pedersen.

For the 2019 scrimmage, however, the Bears will be taking on a new opponent: The Liberty High Lightning.

The squads will face off on Friday, August 23rd at Liberty High in North Liberty. This will mark West Branch's first visit to the new Liberty High football field. The JV squads kickoff at 6:00pm, followed by the Varsity at 7:30pm.

In related news, Meet the Teams Night will take place on Thursday, August 22nd at the Little Rose Bowl. More details about the event have yet to be announced, including a start time, but we'll let you know as soon as it is announced.
