West Branch quarterback, Beau Cornwell, has announced that he has been selected to play in the 2019 Iowa Shrine Bowl. The announcement came via a Tweet from Cornwell earlier this month where he shared the letter he received from the Iowa Shrine Bowl organization.

In an interview with the West Branch Times, Cornwell says he expects to play quarterback for the South squad, which will be coached by West Branch head coach Butch Pedersen.

During the 2018 season, the senior threw 226 times, completing 151 of those (66.8%) for 2,152 yards, which is a new single-season school record. Cornwell's 66.8% completion rate is just shy of the mark of 66.9% set by Adam Donohoe in 2008. Cornwell threw 25 touchdowns, which is also a new school record. The strong-armed quarterback also ran the ball 59 times for 121 yards and 8 touchdowns.

The 2019 Iowa Shrine Bowl game will be played on Saturday, July 20th, at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls. Selected players, however, will report on Sunday, the 14th, for a week of camp and visits to some of the hospitals and centers the Shrine support. In lead up to the week of events, all players are expected to go out in their community and raise $1,000 for the Shrine hospital system. If you'd like to help the Cornwell family with their money-raising efforts, more information will be available soon.

Congratulations to Beau -- we can't wait to see you play!
