Former Bear running back, Cade Jones, has made the Press Citizen's list of Male Athletes of the Year. Press Citizen writes:
Jones was a two-sport standout for the Bears. He was a two-time first-team all-state running back. As a junior, he rushed for 1,769 yards and 27 touchdowns with 8.2 yards per carry. As a senior, he ran for 1,867 yards (169.7 per game, 9.3 per carry). Jones was a physical, punishing runner who enjoyed contact but had the quickness to pull away once he was in the open. He also played a big role on defense for West Branch. Jones won two state wrestling championships at 195 pounds. He is the first Bear to win two championships and only the second to win a title at all. He was 43-6 as a junior. Jones will continue his football career at Grand View College.
