The Iowa Football Coaches Association (IFCA) has announced their Academic All State honor roll for the 2019 season and West Branch Bear Trey Eagle has been selected.

Off the field, the senior wide receiver posted over a 3.7 GPA during his junior year and has been involved in numerous extra-curricular activities in his time at West Branch High School, both of which are criteria for nomination and selection by the IFCA. His leadership also propelled him to a team captain for the 2019 season.

On the field, the 2019 season was a very successful one for the 6'4 pass catcher. Eagle totaled 859 receiving yards on 41 receptions, good for 21 yards per reception. Eagle also reached the endzone 13 times. Both receiving yards and receiving touchdowns were new school records. In addition, a single-game school record was set by Eagle with his 213 receiving yards against Bellevue this season.

The senior was also a big part of the success of the other two phases of the game. On defense, the defensive back tallied 17 tackles, three interceptions, one fumble recovery, and two touchdowns. On special teams, Eagle was the placeholder for kicker Cael Fiderlein, who was 44/45 on PATs and 7/7 on FGs.

Congratulations to Trey for receiving their great honor and thank you for your contributions to not only the football team but to West Branch High School and the community as a whole.

The IFCA has made both the Class 1A honor roll and across-class honor rolls available on their website.
