As the 2019 high football season lurks just 9 days away, so do the preseason football rankings.

DES MOINES REGISTER

West Branch opens the season in the number 4 position of the Class 1A rankings. Defending champion Hawarden West Sioux is the preseason top ranked squad. The Falcons possess, arguably, two of the better offensive weapons in all of Iowa in QB Hunter Dekkers (Iowa State commitment) and RB/WR Kade Lynott.

Here are the DSM Register 1A rankings (last year's record in parenthesis):

  1. West Sioux (12-1)
  2. Dike-New Hartford (12-1)
  3. Van Meter (11-1)
  4. West Branch (9-2)
  5. West Lyon (7-3)
  6. Mediapolis (8-2)
  7. Osage (7-3)
