Heading into West Branch's week nine matchup with Beckman, the chance of the team qualifying for the playoffs was nearly guaranteed thanks to a great record and tough schedule, thus a high RPI. However, the Bears' 48-24 victory guaranteed themselves a spot in the 2018 IHSAA State Playoffs.
After a wild week nine of games, the IHSAA has sorted through the district winners, determined the at-large qualifiers, and released a bracket for the first two rounds of the playoffs. The Bears, a #5 seed, will be traveling to take on #10 seed Osage this Friday, October 26th at 7:00pm.
West Branch is in "Bracket D", which also contains Van Meter and Sumner-Fredricksburg, one of which would be waiting for the winner of West Branch-Osage.

The Green Devils finished their 2018 regular season with a record of 7-2. The team is the champion out of District 3 with a perfect 5-0 district record. Despite West Branch having the higher seed, Osage is the home team as a reward for winning their district.
Prior to this Monday afternoon, be sure to order your playoff clothing which will be delivered prior to Friday's game.
