Friday night at the Little Rose Bowl in West Branch, the Bears hosted Class 2A opponent, the Williamsburg Raiders. It was Throwback Night in West Branch and it was a fitting opponent as West Branch and Williamsburg were two staples of the old Eastern Iowa Hawkeye Conference and haven't played each other since the mid-'90s. Throwback Night was honoring the members of the 1988 and 1989 football teams as the '88 team was the first in West Branch Football history to reach the playoffs, while the '89 squad was the first to win a State Championship.
The Raiders came into the game looking to get their first win of the season, only a few months removed from a State Finals appearance. However, West Branch was sure to not let that happen as the Bears came away with a dominating 31-7 victory.
