Captain's Corner: We are going to bounce back

Hello bear fans! This week we are going to talk about our last week and bouncing back.

Preparing for a football game like West Burlington is never something that only requires one or two days of preparation, it required an intense and very focused week of practice. Not only focused on football but also staying ahead in school work, getting good sleep, staying hydrated and healthy. The entire team needed to do that going into the game against a good West Burlington team.

This week we had put a lot of emphasis on the speed of West Burlington and what we needed to do to stop the speedy team they were. We spent a lot of practice time adjusting our offense to what we expected them to play on defense. We did the same for our defense. We put in a lot of time and hard work for this game but as most people saw, we did not come out on top.

We lost a tough, hard fought game to a very good West Burlington team. We also lost our Quarterback Beau Cornwell early in the game to a broken right collarbone. So what do we have to do now? Bounce back. There is no time to sit around and mope about the loss. It’s over and all we can do now is use it as fuel in our district opener this coming week against another good team.

I can assure you, bear fans, one thing. We will not sit around and get used to being losers, we are going to go to practice Monday and get better. We are going to push ourselves and each other even harder than we did already. We are going to bounce back and be hungry going into our week three game against Jesup.

Go Bears,
Cole Tisinger
