The annual Des Moines Register All-State teams were announced late Saturday evening, November 22.

West Branch running back Luke Lenoch was named Class 1A First Team All-State. The sophomore lead back become the first player in Bear football history to rush for over 2000 yards (2,105). His total surpassed that of Cole Kelly, who ran for 1,994 yards in 2009. Lenoch also had two 94 yard touchdown runs, against Durant and Sigourney-Keota, respectively.

Giese, a returning first team all-state performer at defensive tackle, was named to the second team by the DMR at the same position. The 6'3, 280 pound senior led a stout Bear defense in both sacks and forced fumbles/recoveries.

Congratulations to these fine student-athletes!
