The Iowa City Press-Citizen's sports editor Ryan Murken has put together his list of the area's best football moments from this season, and a few Bears have made the list.
Best individual offensive performance
Luke Lenoch against North Cedar. There were plenty of great ones, but it is Lenoch's record-breaking performance against North Cedar that takes the top spot. The West Branch sophomore running back ran for a school-record 324 yards and four touchdowns on 40 carries in a 42-28 road win.
Unsung hero
West Branch senior Matt McIlrath. Surrounded by all-staters on the offensive line and players putting up big stats, McIlrath is one of the best players in the area you've never heard of. The senior has a team-high 46.5 tackles and leads the Bears' O-line from his center spot.
Best wardrobe selection
West Branch with its purple 1940s throwback jerseys against West Burlington/Notre Dame.
