North Cedar finished the 2012 season with 0 wins; they won their first 5 games of 2013 before falling last week in OT to Tipton, 46-45. Charlie Feller has taken over the reigns as head coach and opened up the offense a bit more. Knights QB Jayden Johnson is second in Class 1A with 1247 passing yards. He likes to spread the wealth, but his main target is Jacob Hay (36 rec, 480 yards). Pay attention to RB Derrick Gray, however. He averages 8.2 yards per carry (103 carries, 841 yards) and has also hauled in 16 passes for 224 yards....West Branch is coming off one of the most thrilling games in the Butch Pedersen era, if not ever. The Bears defeated Sigourney-Keota 47-46 in double OT; the first time a game of that length has ever been contested at West Branch, and just the second time it has happened in Coach Pedersen's tenure. QB Lucas Lamont threw for 250 yards and 4 TD and also had the game tying run in double OT. Tyler Donovan was Lamont's top target as he set WB school records in receiving yards (155), receptions in a a game (10), and tied for the most receiving TD in a game (3). Patrick Reid (9, 1987) previously held the receptions in a game, while the yards in a single game was previously held by Rilen Carew at 140 (2010 vs Wapello). Reid is the other WR with 3 TD receptions in a game.
